Mariano Rivera seems to like mentoring the young pitchers in the bullpen . He mostly seems to work with them on their mental approach to the game, rather than pitches and mechanics. I’m wondering, will Rivera end up a pitching coach when he’s through pitching? Imagine him teaching the cutter to up and coming relievers. Jered Weaver comes on to pitch the eighth inning. He’s scheduled to pitch game seven on Sunday as well. He starts with a strikeout of Melky Cabrera. Update : Weaver also strikes out Jeter to end the inning. A nice 1-2-3 appearance for Weaver, and it beats a side session. The Angels lead 7-6 going to the bottom of the eighth.
